This past Saturday, the Wesleyan track team held their first inaugural meet of the 2011-2012 season. The meet included Mount St. Mary College, Medgar Evers College, and the Community College of Rhode Island. Although it was a non-scoring meet, both the men’s and women’s teams delivered first-place performances.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the annual New England Open Championship at Franklin Park in a field that included several Division I schools and NESCAC rivals.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams started off 2011 with a bang at the annual Wesleyan Invitational on Sept. 24. Both teams finished first, and showed they are ready to take on the NESCAC.

This meet is attended by Division I, II, and III schools, and big name teams like Boston College, UMass Boston, and the Naval Academy were all present. Both Wesleyan teams scored near the top for many of the races.

The men’s and women’s track teams headed to the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday, April 2, in New London, Conn. Facing some good competition, namely fellow NESCAC rivals Connecticut College and Trinity, both the men’s and the women’s teams excelled.

The Wesleyan track and field team dominated at the Boston Indoor Games this past weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track. The Boston Indoor Games is an annual indoor track meet that is attended by Division I, II, and III schools.
It was a busy winter for the Wesleyan Indoor Track and Field teams. Coming back early to campus, the track team took to its training very hard and seems prepared to have a winning indoor season.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, the Wesleyan men’s and women’s indoor track teams started off their season at the annual Wesleyan Invitational meet along with Connecticut College, Medgar Evers College, and York College.
The women’s soccer team traveled to Bristol, R.I. this Monday to take on out-of-conference powerhouse Roger Williams University. This was the first ever match between the two teams in school history.
The Wesleyan women’s soccer team suffered a tough 2-0 loss this Saturday against Little Three archrival, Amherst College. With this win, Amherst maintained its second-place position in the NESCAC standings. The loss was especially hard since last season Amherst knocked the Wes women out of the playoffs with a close overtime defeat.
The Wesleyan women’s soccer team had a successful fall break, as the team took down a 1-0 victory over Bates on Saturday. Fresh off another big win against Bowdoin College the previous weekend, Wesleyan (3-3-3, 2-1-3 NESCAC) entered into the Bates match feeling confident and optimistic.
Beginning this year, Bon Appétit, Wesleyan’s dining service, has committed to ensuring that at least 20 percent of the food they serve at the University will come from local sources within a 150-mile radius of campus. The pledge is part of Bon Appétit’s national company-wide goal to become environmentally friendly and socially responsible.
The women’s soccer team traveled to Brunswick, Maine this Saturday to take on NESCAC rival Bowdoin College. After a two game losing streak, the Cardinals knew they had to make a strong showing against the Polar Bears, a team Wesleyan hasn’t defeated for 16 years.
The Wesleyan women’s soccer team traveled to Mansfield, Conn. this past Wednesday to play against the undefeated Eastern Conn. State Warriors. The Warriors, who are 10-0-1 this season and ranked fifth in New England, provided a solid, competitive match for the Cards.
This Saturday, at Jackson field, the Wesleyan women’s soccer team suffered its first NESCAC loss of the season to the Trinity College Bantams. Coming into the match, Wesleyan was undefeated in the NESCAC, having tied their three previous NESCAC opponents.
