Public Safety (PSafe) confirmed that the suspect in an armed robbery at the University last spring was identified and arrested over the summer. Though Director of Public Safety Dave Meyer did not release the suspect’s name, The Middletown Press listed him as Nicholas Vinci, 18, of Cromwell, Conn.

The incident occurred in the Nicolson dorms on April 7, 2012 at approximately 7 p.m. when two students in the class of 2015 let Vinci, a non-student, into one of their rooms. The Middletown Press also reported that the students had been selling marijuana and initially invited Vinci over at the recommendation of another friend. Vinci held the two students at gunpoint and demanded their cash, computers, and cell phones, along with other items in the room totaling around $4,000. The students were not harmed.

The armed burglary was not Vinci’s first brush with crime; according to The Middletown Press, he has previous charges for threatening and breach of peace.
