The men’s squash team suffered a pair of defeats in the Little Three championship on Saturday, falling 8-1 to Amherst and 9-0 to Williams, a team Wesleyan has never beaten. Wesleyan also dropped an 8-1 decision to Tufts on Friday, making the Cardinals’ overall record 7-12.

Robert Broadfoot ’10 proved to be a bright spot for the Cardinals over the weekend, disposing of his Amherst adversary at No. 2 3-0 and taking his Williams opponent to five games before falling 3-2. Against Amherst, two Cardinals suffered 3-2 losses—Dale Kobrin ’11 (No. 3) and Lonnie Gibbs ’10 (No. 6)—and three others (No. 1 Matt Candal ’11, No. 4 Nate Fowles ’10, and No. 5 Brewster Lee ’13) fell 3-1, making the match closer than the final score indicated. Williams won every match by a 3-0 count except for No. 2.

Broadfoot had given the Cardinals another 3-0 win at No. 2 against Tufts on Friday, with Lee dropping a narrow 3-2 decision and Candal, Gibbs, and Shivan Bhavnani ’13 (No. 9) losing 3-1.

Next up for Wesleyan is the NESCAC tournament, which will take place this weekend. The Cardinals have been seeded 11th and will likely open against Amherst on Friday.
