Golfer Pete Taylor ’12 was named to the five-man all-tournament team in the Williams Invitational after shooting a two-over-par 71-71-142. Taylor’s score tied him for fourth out of 86 entrants. The Invitational was held at the par-70 Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown. As a team, Wesleyan shot a 308-323-631 to finish 14th of the 16 entrants. Williams took the team title with a score of 570; both the Ephs’ “A” and “B” entrants finished ahead of every other NESCAC school.

Taylor’s 142 total and 71 round were both school bests for a Wesleyan golfer. In the 15 years Wesleyan has attended the Invitational, the lowest two-day total was Dave Velardo’s ’08 151 in 2007; Velardo also shot a 75 that year, the best individual round by a Cardinal at the time.

Dan DeRienzo ’11 tied for 37th with a 75-78-153, and A.J. Ferraro ’12 shot an 81-84-165 to tie for 70th. Eli Kendall ’10 tied for 82nd with an 81-90-171.

Wesleyan travels to Middlebury this weekend for the annual Duke Nelson Invitational, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
