November 4 is the day. We all know that the outcome of these national and local elections may be a defining moment of change for our generation. And right here, in Middletown, you can make this election your own by volunteering for a member of our Wesleyan community Matt Lesser ’09, the Democratic candidate for State Representative.

This race is a crucial race for Connecticut and one that is being watched across the state with great anticipation. And this is a local race, so through just a few hours of phone calls or door knocks your words can make the difference and have a lasting impact. There are five days left and each moment matters. If you can’t make it to New Hampshire or Pennsylvania to volunteer for Barack Obama, then contact Alex Lopez (alex@mattlesser.com) and join in Middletown’s own movement for change.

Because Matt and Middletown need your help. The Republican contender, incumbent Ray Kalinowski, has spent the last six years representing personal policies instead of fighting for the issues that really matter to his constituents. You can learn more about Matt Lesser’s far different governing philosophies at www.mattlesser.com.

So volunteer this weekend and on Election Day to ensure that Middletown residents get to the polls and know why Matt is their best choice. Volunteer to make sure that a member of the Wesleyan community is supported by Wesleyan students in his bid to improve the greater society.

Volunteer if you are an environmentalist, or feminist, or any type of activist (even anarchist) because it is through clean politicians like Matt Lesser that your issues can become policy. And, let’s be honest, volunteer because every resident who votes for Matt will probably vote for Obama, too.

The campaign needs volunteers. There are lots of us on campus. The solution is yours to create.
