Martin Scorsese winning goes against arts, sciences and everything else in the Academy’s name. In the past all you needed was a glance at the nominees and at most a protractor to figure out who would win. The secret was face shape. One might say that Judy Dench has won awards because she is British, when in fact the real reason is her face: mostly square with circular undertones. Oscar-worthy in my book. Conversely, this is the reason why Martin Scorsese should never have won an Oscar. To be frank, his face is a trapezoidal/hexagonal nightmare. It’s astonishing that he’s gotten as far as he has in the movie industry. Obviously, this was a pity Oscar. Get a face Scorsese!
