It is good to see my classmate President Mike Roth speaking out against the Trump administration’s authoritarian censorship agenda in a Page 1 article in today’s New York Times [Editor’s note: this letter was submitted on March 9]. Officially resuming my annual contribution to Wes Tech! Just as the anti-DEI crusade is just the new version of Jim Crow, so is the sanctioning of elite liberal arts colleges for a perceived anti-semitic bias a front for delegitimizing liberals and in fact the whole intellectual foundation of modernity. I’m hoping that university presidents like Mike will roundly reject Trump’s casus belli against modernity for what it is. The Jewish, liberal intellectuals, betrayed by their brethren who hold racist beliefs vis a vis Palestine, have to stand together to save the liberal project.
