Angela Slevin ’15 set seven school records as the women’s swimming team raced to an eighth place at the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Bowdoin. She set three individual records in the three backstroke events while teaming up with Roxy Capron ’14, Alyssa Savarino ’14, and Cara Colker-Eybel ’13 in the 400-meter medley relay, the 400-meter free relay, and the 800-meter free relay. In addition to setting school records in the backstroke, Slevin also had individual “B” cuts in the 100-meter backstroke (0:57.61) and the 200-meter backstroke (2:05.35), good enough for fourth and fifth in the Championship meets, respectively. The 200-meter medley relay and the 400-meter medley relay also had national “B” cut times of 1:47.09 and 3:52.96, respectively.

Three other Cardinals also grabbed national “B” cuts. Capron came through with a third-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:05.90) and a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter breaststroke (2.23.51). Hirsch placed fourth in the 100-meter breast with a time of 1:06.00, good enough for a “B” cut for herself. Colker-Eybel came in sixth in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:53.62 to earn the Cardinals’ final “B” cut. Ally Anderson ’13 rounded out the top-eight finishers for the Cardinals by finishing seventh in the 200-meter individual medley.

The Cardinal women will have to wait at least a week until they find out whether or not they qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in Shenandoah, Texas from Mar. 20-23.
