To whom it may concern,

Hi my name is John Codman and I am a junior at Wesleyan University this semester and I was looking forward to once again participating in the Wesleyan University Orchestra. Much to my disappointment I have just recently found out that a decision by the chair of the music department was made that the interim conductor should select music that features a limited wind section. The reason given was that the parts would not be appropriately filled. This is surprising in that the previous semester this was not a problem as there are many musicians in the local community who enjoy playing and could fill said parts. Having played the trombone since I was 7 years old I have always enjoyed the amazing sounds produced by full orchestras and have looked for every opportunity to participate. All in all I am perturbed by the decision made and extremely disappointed that my participation in the ensemble has been rejected. I hope that in the future more communication will be made in order to remedy situations like the one at hand.
