On the second anniversary of the re-renaming of Zonker Harris Day, at least three drug-related incidents were reported. The festival occurred under the title of Ze Who Will Not Be Named Day in 2010, in compliance with an administrative mandate that sprung from concerns about the event’s drug-laced reputation.

On April 14, Public Safety reported that two students had “bad drug interactions” and were transported to the emergency room on Saturday.

In a separate incident, a member of the class of 2014 was arrested on charges of second-degree criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, assault of a public safety officer, and second-degree breach of peace. According to the Middletown Police Department (MPD), as cited in the Meriden Patch, the student attempted to enter a house on Cross Street. The student was reportedly under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms during the event.

MPD was called to respond and the student was Tased twice by the arresting officers after reportedly resisting arrest. The student was then put in ankle- and handcuffs and temporarily placed in a police holding cell. He has since been released.
