Students looking to do their laundry can now use the new LaundryView service provided by the WesCard Office to find out online which washers and dryers are available. According to Assistant Director of Student Accounts/WesCard Office Cathy-Lee Rizza, the WesCard office had been working on creating their own program for students before they settled on the LaundryView program.

“The WesCard Office was working with [Information Technology Services (ITS)] to create our own version in response to student requests, but that didn’t work out,” she wrote in an email to The Argus. “The decision was made to go with Mac-Grays’ LaundryView program as Mac-Gray is our contracted laundry machine provider.”

Rizza said she worked with Mac-Gray and ITS to implement LaundryView. The website allows students to check which washers and dryers are being used and how far along in the cycle they are. Rizza said she believes the website will offer students many benefits, and she will continue to monitor its usage.

“The biggest benefit will be that students do not have to walk all the way to the laundry room just to find out that there are no machines available,” she wrote. “The student will be able to see that from their own room.”

The website currently monitors the laundry rooms at HiRise, 200 Church Street, 253 Pine Street, 256 Washington Street, the Butterfield Colleges, Clark Hall, Freshman Fauver, Senior Fauver Apartments, and 1 Vine Street. Rizza said there are no plans to expand to other laundry rooms, as the other sites have wiring constraints that do not allow the LaundryView system to be installed. She said a text alert system would be implemented soon.

“Watch for signs in the laundry room explaining how to do text alerts in the next few days,” she wrote.
