Wesleyan cross country turned in a successful weekend, as both the men’s and women’s squads saw impressive finishes at the NESCAC Championship in Amherst, Mass.

Skyler Cummins ’13 delivered a tremendous performance to lead the Cardinal men, finishing fourth out of 129 runners with a time of 26:19 over the five-mile course, the best result for a Wesleyan runner at this meet since Owen Kiely ’06 in 2005. With Bryan Marsh ’13 in 21st place, Austin Cotant ’13 in 58th, Seth Hafferkamp ’12 in 63rd, and Sam Roth ’13 in 66th filling out the men’s squad’s scoring five, Wesleyan was able to come out with a seventh-place finish at the meet.

On the women’s side, the Cardinals finished in eighth place at the meet, powered by three runners who finished within seven seconds of each other. Along with Julia Mark ’13 in 36th, Hannah Zimmerman ’13 in 37th, and Tess Crain ’12 in 39th, Nellie Triedman ’13 and Shivani Kochar ’14 finished in 58th and 59th, respectively, to round out the women’s scoring five.

Both squads will travel up to Brunswick, ME this coming weekend for NCAA Regionals, hosted by Bowdoin College.
