The Old Methodist men’s rugby team hosted Connecticut College on Saturday, avenging a 40-10 loss this past fall by completely dominating the Camels, 40-0.  In front of a decent crowd, Old Methodist shut out Conn. College, a remarkable feat in a 15-on-15 game lasting 80 minutes.

Defense was the theme of the day, as Old Meth buckled down just outside the try zone whenever the Camels approached. But the offense was versatile, as well.  Six different players scored for Old Methodist, including Matt Maloney ’11, Gideon Too ’14, Justin Schwartz ’11, Joseph Byous ’12, Sam Broadaway ’11, and tri-captain Peter Frank ’12.

Sam Arras ’13 made five of his six conversion opportunities, and the lopsided nature of the second half allowed some of the reserves to get valuable playing time.  That experience will certainly help Old Methodist as they prepare to face Framingham State, who beat the Wesleyan men in a close contest this past fall.
