Rob Wohl’s Wespeak regarding Zonker Harris Day in the March 25 issue does an immense disservice to Wesleyan’s student body. This year alone, we had a bake sale for underprivileged white people, formed an activist group to increase wireless bandwidth, and put up tents at the Admissions building to protest some vague wording in an rule meant to address some basic safety issues on campus. And let’s not forget the complaints about The Ride, fire safety inspections, and chalking from yesteryears.
Mr. Wohl, it is unfortunate that you see such little hope in our proud legacy of whining. Contrary to what you have written, Wesleyan students have not only continued to whine since your arrival, but have actually whined increasingly more fervently and often over the years. It is a ceaseless and inevitable march of Progress, which will no doubt culminate in some kind of whining singularity in the near future. I firmly believe that the Wesleyan student body will endure the re-re-naming of Zonker Harris Day and direct their formidable energies in other pointless directions.

Wohl’s initial wespicque was priceless, and this is a worthy riposte. I will miss you both.
