In a March 1 campus-wide email, the Chair of the Board of Trustees Joshua Boger ’73, P’06 P’09, announced that President Michael Roth signed a new contract to stay on as the University’s President for seven more years. Roth’s first term as President began during the 2007-2008 academic year.
“Public intellectual, teacher, blogger, booster and, most important, leader, Michael has done an outstanding job for this University,” Boger wrote in the announcement. “The contract, effective immediately, is for seven years; and we are gratified to send this strong signal of support for his excellent leadership.”
Roth said he believes his team has accomplished a lot and hopes to continue being as productive in the next seven years.
“I am very proud of the work our team has done over the last three and a half years and excited by what’s ahead,” Roth wrote in an email to The Argus. “From enhancing financial aid to making the campus more environmentally sustainable, from adding small classes to renovating science labs, from recruiting great students to hiring inspiring faculty, Wesleyan is charting a course that will show just how compelling pragmatic liberal arts education can be today. I look forward to the journey we will make together!”
