This Month on Second Stage

, by ,

The Wesleyan student theater group, Second Stage, has been “young, friendly, attractive since 1973,” and this semester they’re continuing this theatrical tradition in a seven-show season. Now that we’re hitting October, two shows are ready to go on.

All Second Stage shows are free admission; tickets can be picked up at the Box Office the day of the performance.

“Becoming Twenty-Something: A Cabaret Evening”

Directed by Ross Shenker and Samantha Pearlman

Friday, Oct. 1, and Saturday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Come join a group of Wesleyan students as they share their triumphs, failures, hopes, and fears through an evening of story and song! Shenker and Pearlman, who played Sweeney Todd and Miss Lovett last year, are joined by representatives from several of the University’s best known a cappella groups for this exciting musical offering.

“24-Hour Play Festival”

Coordinated by Laignee Barron

What can you do in a day? Introductions, writing, directing, rehearsing, line memorization, more rehearsing, coffee, coffee, coffee, costumes, make-up, blocking, lights, performance, and scene. Eight original 10-minute shows written, rehearsed, and staged in 1,440 minutes. The clock starts Friday night, and the shows go up on Saturday. Come witness the insanity!
