This weekend, four players on the women’s tennis team travelled to Babson Park, Mass. to participate in the ITA Tournament hosted by Babson College. Although the Cards fell behind early on in the tournament, competing against top teams provided the Cardinals with a good opportunity to practice playing against strong teams with talented players.

In the singles rounds, Genevieve Aniello ’13 faced off against MIT’s Julia Hsu, but was defeated 2-6, 4-6. Freshman Kiley Robbins was also scheduled to play against Colby’s Katie Brezinski ‘11, but was forced to default due to health reasons and therefore took a second loss for the Cards.

The doubles rounds did not bode well for the Cards either as doubles pair Linda McDougal ‘10 and Grace Smith ’14 fell to Amherst’s top pair, Brown ’10 and Danzig ’12, 3-8.

The Cards will continue with match play this week as they head to Dudley, Mass. on Wednesday the 22nd to take on the Nichols College Bison.
