Starting off her Wesleyan tennis career with an impressive 10-6 singles record in the 2009 season, Genevieve Aniello ’13 is back in action this fall, once again ranking as one of the squad’s top players. Last season, Aniello was an all around threat on the court, as she held down both the number three singles slot and the number two doubles pair.

Quickly adjusting to the high speed and intensity of collegiate tennis, Aniello dominated the majority of her opponents with ease and poise, proving that even as a freshman she was already a force to be reckoned with. Heading into the 2010 season, Aniello looks forward to improving both as a team and as an individual player. With the loss of three talented seniors, and two players being abroad this semester, Aniello will provide experience and leadership for the fairly young team.

“With the five new freshmen on the team everyone is really excited for what we can do this year,” she said. “Our practices have been pretty in- tense and every one is doing what they need to for a winning fall season.” Although the team has only been practicing together for a couple days now, Aniello seems perfectly confident in the team’s ability to take down any of their opponents.

“We are definitely playing a variety of teams ranging from Simmons College to three time Champions, Williams College, so hopefully our hard work will pay off,” she said. “I’m hoping we can finish the fall season undefeated again this year.”

After a stellar freshman year, the 2010 season looks promising for the young player and with less than a week left until the team’s regular sea- son opener, Aniello will definitely be the lady Card to watch out for on the courts this fall.
