The Wesleyan Student Assembly (WSA) Report following the February meeting of the Board of Trustees announced a five percent increase in tuition for the 2010-2011 academic year. This increase was accompanied by an 11 percent increase in financial aid that was also approved by the Board of Trustees.
“Five percent is the assumption for tuition increases in our planning models,” wrote Vice President for Finance and Administration John Meerts in an e-mail to The Argus. “Many times in the last 10 years we were above five percent: sometimes we were below.”
Last year, tuition increased by 3.8 percent, which was below the proposed hike of 5.9 percent. Financial aid increased by approximately eight percent.
