“Yalta,” an original play written and directed by Liz Gauvey-Kern ’11, is underway at the ’92 Theater. The play explores the historic WWII conference and its repercussions. Students starring in this heavily-researched work are also receiving credit for their participation in a student forum class taught by Gauvey-Kern, which accompanied the production. Cast members have researched and written about the historical figures they are portraying, and have explored the topic of the Conference itself. Featuring a cast of characters including Stalin, Churchill, FDR, and others, the play delves into the meeting that ultimately led to the Cold War and end of friendly ties between the United States and Russia. But if this sounds like a history lesson, don’t worry: it’s a comedy about the dangers of political deception…and there’s even a little sex. “Yalta” is playing at the ’92 Theater at 8 p.m. on Friday night, and at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are free at the Box Office on the day of the show.
