Without having ever run the 10k in college, Mike Brady ’07 captured the NESCAC Championship in the event last weekend with a time of 31:57.55. Brady, who usually runs the 5k event, finished the first 5,000 meters of the race in 16:15 and sped up to finish the second 5,000 meters in 15:42 on his way to an almost four-second win. Brady edged out a runner from Little Three rival Amherst to get the win, while his Cardinal teammate Alex Battaglino ’07 finished third with a time of 32:02.49. Brady’s NESCAC Championship capped off a steady year in which he finished fourth in the 5k at the Trinity Invitational on March 31 and fourth in the 3,000-meter event at the Elmer Swanson Invitational on April 14. This marked Brady’s first NESCAC Championship in his four-year career at Wesleyan.
