This spring, the success of the men’s tennis team will hinge on two of its senior co-captains, Jack Rooney ’07 and Tallen Todorovich ’07. Todorovich and Rooney, the team’s most dependable players in singles, will battle it out for the number one spot this spring. In the fall, Todorovich went 1-2 in singles, recording a win against Coast Guard, while falling to the number one players from MIT and Bates. Last spring, Todorovich gave the Cards their most uplifting victory in over three years, defeating Wheaton’s number two singles player and propelling the Cards to a 4-3 victory over nationally ranked Wheaton. The Cards will look forward to the return of Rooney from a serious shoulder injury, as the Rancho Murieta, CA native missed the entire fall season. Like Todorovich, Rooney has proven he has the ability to come through in big matches, as he has four all-time wins against opponents from Amherst, a perennial NESCAC powerhouse. After six matches during spring break in Orlando, Florida, Rooney, Todorovich and the rest of the team will host Amherst College on March 29 in the team’s most important match of the spring.
