The Wesleyan’s women’s squash team went 2-1 this weekend at Princeton, finishing second at the Howe Cup by defeating Haverford and Colgate and losing to Mount Holyoke in the final match. Overall, the Cardinals finished 26th out of he 30 teams in the national tournament.

The Cardinals beat Haverford 5-4 on Saturday and rolled over Colgate 6-3 on Saturday. In Sunday’s final match against Mount Holyoke, Maddie Rottman ’08 won the third of her three matches on the weekend, but it wasn’t enough as Wesleyan fell 6-3. Rachel Epstein ’05 also had three victories for the Cards, who finished their season at 5-15.

The season finished on a high note though, as Wesleyan won two of its last three games and the fifth-seeded Rottman showed continued improvement. The Cardinals expect great things from Rottman and the rest of the squad next season.

Eric Mangini ’94, the secondary coach for the NFL champion New England Patriots, has been named to replace Romeo Crennel as the defensive coordinator for the Pats.

Mangini, the seasonal and all-time sack leader for the Wesleyan Cardinals, will be working under head coach Bill Belichick ’75.
