Volleyball hosts the Wesleyan Invitational at Alumni Gymnasium this weekend. The team’s record currently stands at 4-6 after dropping its first two conference matches to Amherst and Tufts.

The team will look to use home-court advantage to get back into the win column Friday night after three straight losses last weekend at the Amherst Classic. Winning will be no easy task, as the team faces conference leader Amherst (11-1, 3-0 NESCAC) in its first match starting at 8 p.m. When the teams last met on Sept. 18, Amherst narrowly escaped with a 15-12 victory in the deciding fifth game.

The volleyball weekend continues with two matches on Saturday. First the Cardinals will battle another conference foe, Trinity (3-2, 0-2 NESCAC). The match begins at 11 a.m. and features Connecticut rivals sharing eighth-place in the conference.

The team’s final match of the weekend pits the Red and Black against Smith College at 2 p.m. Smith boasts a 7-2 record coming into the weekend.

This will be the second to last time volleyball plays at the Alumni Gym. The final home matches of the season will be played the Saturday of fall break, and the team’s facilities are scheduled to move into Freeman for the 2005 season and beyond.
