Adding another significant accomplishment to an already stellar career, Ellen Davis ’07 obliterated the Wesleyan school record in the outdoor 5k event last week. On Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Davis ran 5,000 meters in 16:28.22, nearly 30 seconds faster than the 17-year-old record of 16:57.9. Davis’ record-setting time in the 5k is currently the fastest time by a runner in Division III this year, and the eighth fastest in Division III history. An All-American in cross-country and indoor track, Davis entered the outdoor track season on the heels of winning the NCAA Division III National Championship in the 5k indoor event (in which she also holds the school record). Davis will compete in the New England Division III Championship this weekend.
