Cardinal Athletes of the Weekend: Nick Pelletier ’08

Although the men’s basketball season ended last weekend with losses to Middlebury and Williams, it would be hard to blame Nick Pelletier ’08 for the Cardinals’ misfortune. Pelletier opened the week with a season-high 24 points in a non-conference win over Salve Regina. He continued to torment opposing defenders through the weekend, tallying a game-high 19 points and six boards against Middlebury and 18 points and six rebounds against Williams. The stellar weekend capped another strong year for the Amherst, NH native, as he finished with an average of 13.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds a night – both second on the team to Rob Kelly ’06. Pelletier was active on the defensive end as well last weekend, racking up five steals in the two games. He will be the highest-scoring returnee on next year’s squad, which will look to improve on this year’s disappointing campaign and get back into the NESCAC tournament.
