The Wesleyan wrestling team welcomed thirteen adversaries to campus this past weekend, Feb. 25-26, playing host to the 2012 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Championships.
The Wesleyan wrestling team, ranked #1 in New England in the first poll of the year, opened its highly anticipated campaign on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Doug Parker Invitational in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Cardinals return five All-New England performers from a standout 16-3-1 2010-2011 squad.
The volleyball squad was no exception, heading to Western Connecticut State on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22 to take part in the Colonial Classic.
On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Wesleyan volleyball squad took the court for a pair of home non-conference matches. The opener pitted the Cardinals against the visiting Clark Cougars in the first matchup between the two sides since 2003.
On a night when the only Wesleyan athletic show in town was the volleyball match at Silloway Gymnasium, the Cardinals did not disappoint.
Wesleyan opened NESCAC play this past weekend with home contests against Amherst on Friday, Sept. 16, and Middlebury on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Wesleyan opened the season with a bang, taking the first set by a score of 25-21, but fell in the following three sets and dropped the match. The second match for the Cardinals, also on Friday, slated them against the undefeated MIT Engineers.
On Friday, the Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team took the field for the last time in their 2011 road contest against Connecticut College.
On Saturday, April 23, the Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team took the field wearing their home uniforms for the last time in 2011. They welcomed Little Three rival Amherst to campus, looking for their first NESCAC victory and the opportunity to even out their season record at .500.
On Tuesday, April 19, the Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team followed a tough three game NESCAC road trip by welcoming Mount Holyoke to Middletown.
The Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team arrived at Williams to face its Little Three rival, looking to nab its first NESCAC victory of the season and its first victory at Williams in its last sixteen tries.
The Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team made the long trek up to Colby on Saturday, April 9, with a tall task at hand.
On Wednesday, April 6, the Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team made the short trip to the Trinity College to faceoff against the #4 nationally ranked Bantams. Behind the strength of seven consecutive goals, Trinity led the Cardinals by a score of 8-1 late in the first half.
On Tuesday, March 29, the Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team hit the road for an in-state contest at Western Connecticut State University. Coming off a tough defeat at the hands of Bates, the Cardinals wasted no time making their mark on enemy turf.
The Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team continued its trend of ups and downs this past week with a victory over Roger Williams on March 24 followed by a loss at the hands of NESCAC opponent Bates on March 26.
It was the first ever women’s lacrosse match-up between Wesleyan and SUNY Farmingdale on March 17, and it was certainly one to remember for the Cardinals. Wesleyan scored the most goals and allowed the fewest they have so far in this young campaign, winning by a score of 19-2 while out-shooting Farmingdale 47-10.
The men’s swim and dive teams concluded their 2010-2011 campaign this past weekend, Feb. 25-27, at the NESCAC championships on the campus of Bowdoin College.
The NESCAC women’s swim and dive championships were held Feb. 18-20 at Williams College. The Wesleyan Cardinals headed up to Williamstown for an action-packed weekend with their sights set on a high NESCAC finish.
On Saturday, Feb. 5, the Wesleyan swimming and diving teams took the plunge into the home natatorium for their final contest of the regular season, squaring off against the Coast Guard Academy in dual-meet action.
Coming off hard-fought defeats at the hands of Tufts and Williams, the Wesleyan men’s and women’s swim and dive teams were at it again last weekend.
The Wesleyan swim and dive teams ended their winter break early this year for a training trip in Naples, Florida. Unlike last year’s voyage, when storms abbreviated many of the practices, the Cardinals ran into perfect Florida weather.
