Our Valentine to Wesleyan

For Valentine's Day, we would like to take a break from the monotony of complaining about what is wrong at Wesleyan and instead focus some attention on what makes us love Wesleyan— at least, until our next editorial.

Health Matters: Part One

Most people by now have probably heard from someone or other that the American health care system has major problems. You might have heard it from me... Well, I hope you didn't listen too hard, because I didn't know what I was talking about. Since then I've learned a bit, and I've decided to write this column as a way to share some information and perspective on a topic I believe many of us don't know enough about.

Zach Waksman: Relax

As a sports editor, I feel compelled to respond to Zach Waksman, who expressed his dismay over the coverage of Wesleyan Athletics in the Argus. Zach, I suggest that you take a chill pill and lighten up on my sports writers.

About big Pimping

Dear Nathan Ratner and Eric Rosenblum: Gee, as a woman, I sure am glad that I have big strong men like you around to tell me that making references to "pimping" is not offensive. What would I do without you?

What's up with Mac dual support?

I remember, when I was offered admission to Wesleyan, randomly going through the Wesleyan website and reading somewhere that Wesleyan offers dual support for Macs and PC, support which also includes antivirus software. I then thought to myself about how nice that was, and then immediately sent my "yes" letter back to Wesleyan.

Thank you WGC

Thank you to all of the dedicated workers of the Wesleyan Grounds Crew. Without your help, the 2,000+ able-bodied students of Wesleyan University would not have been able to get out of their respective residencies.

Some articles are inaccurate

News Editor Eric Lach wrote about Mayor Giuliano's visit last week, but the article missed or purposefully left out some important parts of the new mayor's visit. Giulano expressed his excitement over new luxury condos planned in the North End. In response to a question concerning relocation of current residents, he replied that they would most likely have to leave the city.

Response to Tricia Rose lecture: Claims not justified

I typically only read the Argus when I'm waiting for my food to come up at Weswings, but an article headline caught my eye as I walked past a stack of them in the science center the other day: "Professor critiques contemporary hip hop music, Kayne West." "Hmm, I said to myself. What do the 'academics' have to say about 'Gold Digger'?" As I had expected, Dr. Tricia Rose had an incredibly erroneous view of music and its place in and relationship to society.

Point/Counterpoint: Being Alone on Valentine’s Day

Point: Contrary to popular belief, being alone is not a bad thing, especially on Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to worry about buying gifts or remembering anniversaries. Also, there are plenty of great things that are best when done on your own, like reading, single-player mode in Mario Kart, or riding a tandem bike alone.
