Luce is the perfect restaurant to take your parents out to when they visit, by which I mean it’s the perfect place for your parents to buy you a fancy Italian dinner over homecoming weekend.

It may also be the best place to ask your professor for an extension on that pesky mid-term. According to restaurant owner Sammy Bajraktarevic, Luce has long been a hang out spot for University faculty—you’ll have to take his word for it.

Bajrat… umm, Sammy, offered up his special recipe for mushroom bruscetta.

Ingredients:

-1 loaf of rustic bread

-mushrooms (wild, if possible)

-1 shallot

-butter

-extra-virgin olive oil

-Chicken broth

Directions:

-Slice bread into pieces 1/2 inches thick

-Toast bread until crispy

-Meanwhile, dice mushrooms very fine and mince the shallot

-Heat up a frying pan with a little bit of butter and some olive oil

-Throw on the minced shallots and sautée until golden brown

-Add mushrooms and chicken broth

-Add salt and pepper to taste

-Cook until all liquid evaporates and mushrooms become a soft spread

-Spread mushrooms onto toast

-Serve immediately
