Co-captain Alexa David ’10, a native of Bernardsville, N.J., will be a strong offensive presence on the turf this fall as the Wesleyan field hockey team looks to bounce back from a disappointing season. Last year, she was tied for third in two crucial offensive statistics, notching two goals and five points. Her accuracy is impressive as 14 of her 17 shots were on goal. David can also play defense, leading last year’s squad with four defensive saves. With her offensive and defensive leadership, David will be crucial in helping the team to avenge the six one-goal losses they suffered last fall. The field hockey team missed the NESCAC tournament last year for the first time ever, so the women seek to prove their resilience and recapture their spot in the postseason. Since 13 of the 15 Cardinals who started in three or more games last year have returned to the field, the group will be close-knit and experienced. Tomorrow, the women will kick off the season at Williams, determined to achieve an early NESCAC victory against one of Wesleyan’s historic rivals.
