Swimmer Jeanine Zaltsman ’11 has been chosen as one of 12 women swimmers to represent the U.S. during the 18th Maccabi World Games, which will be held in Israel from July 13-23. Zaltsman is a member of the Wesleyan 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams, both of which hold school records, and a 2008 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Academic All-American.

The Maccabi Games, a world championship for Jewish athletes, will feature 60 countries sending their top Jewish athletes to compete in 28 different sports this year. Zaltsman applied to represent the U.S. and was chosen on the basis of her outstanding performances in 2008-09. She was selected to compete in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. Zaltsman had the top times among the Cardinal squad in the 50- and 100-yard butterfly last season, in addition to her accomplishments in the freestyle, and placed eighth at the NESCAC meet in the 50 fly.

Zaltsman helped lead Wesleyan to a 10-5 season in 2008-09 and a 20-9 cumulative record in her two years, including a sixth-place finish in the NESCAC Championships her freshman year.
