Tommie Lark ’11 represented Wesleyan track at the New England Open Championships, which were held Friday and Saturday at Boston University. Lark placed eighth in the long jump and triple jump, giving Wesleyan two team points for a 31st-place tie of the 33 scoring teams. Wesleyan was tied for 14th of the 16 Division III teams that scored at the meet. UConn finished first at the meet with a score of 128.5, showing that its dominance of New England athletics extends far beyond the basketball court, while Williams was the top scorer in Division III with 30 points, which placed it ninth.

Lark had the second-longest distance among the Division III representatives in the long jump. His distance of 21-8 3/4 was less than an inch behind the sixth-place finisher. Lark’s distance in the triple jump was 44-8 1/4, ranking him second among the event’s Division III jumpers.

Wesleyan’s score of 2 tied it with Bates and W.P.I., just behind Rhode Island College (3) and the University of Hartford (3.5). Trinity (19th place, 11 points), Amherst, and Tufts (both tied in 25th place with six points) were the other NESCAC teams represented at the meet.

Wesleyan will be back in action this weekend as Tufts hosts the men’s and women’s ECAC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday. The indoor season concludes the following weekend with the NCAA Championships; Lark has provisionally qualified in the triple jump. The outdoor season begins the following Saturday as the Cardinals will participate in the Connecticut College Invitational.
